Maria Eduarda is a doctoral student in the Art History Postgraduate Program at Rio de Janeiro State University (PPGHA/UERJ). A Master of Arts in Art and Contemporary Culture Postgraduate Program at Rio de Janeiro State University (PPGARTES/UERJ) and a bachelor’s degree holder in History from UERJ. She is part of the Laboratory of Arts and Politics of Alterity (LAPA/UERJ) coordinated by Professor Maurício Barros de Castro, who is her thesis advisor. She researches artworks related to the African diaspora, colonial trauma, and military dictatorships in Latin America made by contemporary artists from the Global South. She is looking for artists who depict the sea or the water in their work, so she can make the correlation between the water and some traumatic pasts.
